The food safety program helps to protect the public from food-borne illnesses.
We work closely with restaurant operators to ensure compliance with the minimum food safety standards for retail food facilities, as established by the California Retail Food Code.

Results of food facility inspections can be viewed at the individual restaurants/retail food facilities in Amador County. They can also be viewed or obtained at the Amador County Environmental Health Department.
To inquire about any violation(s) of any retail food facilities contact the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) by submitting an email request on their website.
The Environmental Health division conducts a risk-based inspection program based on the level of food preparation at the facility, as well as review and monitoring of the five major sources of food borne illness. Contact the Environmental Health division for more information about any violations.

The Environmental Health program of San Francisco County ensures the Food Safety Program enforces health code regulations, which may result in administrative actions, by inspecting over 7,000 food facilities. Depending on the type of food preparation it may result in several inspections.
The purpose of this program is to prevent the occurrence of foodborne illnesses and to promote safe food preparation, production and service in clean and appealing food facilities. The EHD is responsible for conducting routine inspections and issuing permits for all retail food operations in the county, responding to citizen complaints, educating food handlers and operators, and review and approval of construction plans for new and remodeled food facilities.
